Grand Haven Michigan Weekend Getaway

Image
We had a lovely getaway weekend in Grand Haven, Michigan. We stayed at a B&B directly across from the beach and within walking distance to the downtown area.

Grand Haven is a delightful small town on the western side of Michigan located directly on Lake Michigan. This lazy resort town with the sound of Lake Michigan lapping the shore has a lot to offer everyone in the family.

Downtown streets are lined with interesting boutiques and novelty shops.  Ride the Trolley around downtown and visit the many boutiques then take it to the beach.

There is a boardwalk that fills up every evening after dinner with vacationers, who enjoy ice cream while watching the spectacular sunset over Lake Michigan. Then they turn their attention to the Musical Fountain with the world's largest synchronized lights, water, and music. The Musical Fountain offers a 20-minute show every night at dusk.

Our Favorite New Hampshire Fall Hikes to See Fall Foliage

Image
We like a nice walk in the woods, especially in the autumn. Here's our answer to the question, Where to hike in New Hampshire in the Fall, light to moderate exertion.
Seacoast Region: Odiorne State Park
Odiorne State Park’s unique 135 acres offer up something for everyone—from light hiking and picturesque picnic spots to rich autumn hues, fresh salty air, and sweeping ocean views. You can hunt for sea glass on sandy beaches and pretty pebbles along the rocky shoreline, where Pennacook and Abenaki tribes spent summers centuries ago.

A network of trails lets you explore forested trails, ponds, salt marshes, and even the bunker remnants of old Fort Dearborn. When you’ve had your fill of history, you can stop by the Seacoast Science Center to enjoy educational exhibits and programming, too.

Merrimack Valley: South Pawtuckaway Mountain

This short-loop hike in Pawtuckaway State Park serves up a gradual 450-foot elevation gain over 2.3 miles and runs from Tower Road, via the Tower Trail C…

Experience Northern Ireland’s Scenic Coastline

Image
The Northern Coast of Ireland a Self-driving Tour- Day 9- 10- Ireland’s Northern Coastline - Upon leaving Belfast we headed along the Causeway Coastal Route for breath-taking views of the North Channel of the Irish Sea.

We stopped in along the coast by the Antrim Mountains to partake of the beautiful scenery and to take advantage of the perfect photo-taking opportunity. The sun was shining, it glistened off the water, making it the most striking emerald and aqua blue I have ever seen.

Glenarm Castle

We stopped mid-morning for tea and scones at Glenarm Castle Walled Garden Tea Room. Best scones ever! We also walked through the walled garden and admired the many plants and flowers. The charming tearoom is located in the old Mushroom House and is open daily. You can relax and enjoy a light lunch or a delicious homemade cake or pastry, overlooking the kitchen garden. Parking is available.

Be a Football Hero with These Tailgating Tips and Recipes

Image
Nothing beats a tailgate!

Drinks, foods and lawn games keep tailgaters entertained till the main event starts. However, if you have been to a few tailgates, there is one thing you already know: a good tailgate is far more memorable than the main game.

I checked off one of my bucket list items with a trip to watch the Ohio Buckeyes play.  Had to have a party to celebrate that!
To throw a seamless tailgate You need to select and prepare the food and drinks beforehand. Of course, certain foods like sausages and burgers are best grilled on-site, but there is no need to fret over preparing drinks or fiddling with food trays.
Below are a few recipes for simple, Low-cost tailgating parties.
Crunchy Chicken Cheese Tenders Original crackers are combined with parmesan cheese to form a crisp coating over these chicken wings. They are great for the tailgate party or as a snack during the game.
